May 13, 2005 · Phil Weston has been unathletic his entire life. In college he failed at every sport that he tried out for. It looks like his 10-year old son, Sam, is following in his footsteps. But when Phil's hyper-competitive dad benches Sam, Phil decides to transfer his son to a new team which needs a coach.
Kicking & Screaming. Phil Weston (Will Ferrell) is a mild-mannered suburban dad who's suddenly transformed into a caffeine-fueled sports maniac when he becomes the coach of his son's unruly soccer team.
Synopsis. Phil Weston (Will Ferrell) is an average person who had to endure his father Buck Weston's (Robert Duvall) over-competitiveness throughout his life; his upbringing has left permanent mental scars.
