The Cocoanuts is a 1929 pre-Code musical comedy film starring the Marx Brothers (Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo). Produced for Paramount Pictures by Walter Wanger, who is not credited, the film also stars Mary Eaton, Oscar Shaw, Margaret Dumont and Kay Francis.
The Cocoanuts is a film adaptation of a Broadway play by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind, starring the Marx Brothers as a hotel owner and his employees in Florida. The film features musical numbers, romance, comedy, and a jewel robbery plot, as well as the famous "Why a duck?" scene.

The Cocoanuts. This was the Marx Brothers' first movie (if you don't count "Humor Risk") and was one of the earliest sound films ever made. Groucho plays Mr. Hammer, a Florida hotel owner during the Florida land boom in the 1920's, desperately trying to unload real estate on unsuspecting buyers.
