Synopsis. After Captain Matthews docks his ship, the Lottie Carson , in Los Angeles, he takes his daughter Lorraine ashore to meet silk merchant Nick Conrad at a local cafe. As Conrad buys Matthews' cargo of silk for $40,000 in cash, a gang of shady men watch carefully while another attentive observer, newspaper reporter Jerry Mason, eyes Lorraine.
