Overview. Based partially on the story of Bonnie and Clyde, Eddie Taylor is an ex-convict who cannot get a break after being released from prison. When he is framed for murder, Taylor is forced to flee with his wife Joan Graham and baby.
You Only Live Once (1937) not only provided one of Henry Fonda's first major film roles, but was also the second American film by the great German director Fritz Lang and one of the first true film noirs.
A young Henry Fonda is exceptional as the bitter, hopeless Eddie Taylor, a young criminal framed for murder and sent to Death Row, while Sylvia Sidney plays Joan Graham, the only light in Eddie’s life who will later become his wife, the mother of his child, and his accomplice in escaping from prison and avoiding capture by the police.
