Old Soldiers (2005) is a science fiction novel by American writer David Weber, a sequel to the short story "With Your Shield" published in the anthology Bolo!, edited by the same writer. It details the future of the two survivors of that battle as they try to keep alive a remnant of humanity, deliberately separated off and sent far away from the war that is consuming both sides completely.

  3. Jan 30, 2007 · Well, not so with Old Soldiers. What a great book, truly in the spirit that held the original Bolo stories together. Highly, highly recommended. Well written, a great story, engaging characters, plenty of action and a worthy addition to the world histories of the bolos as well. Kudos to David Weber from a die-hard Laumer fan!

  5. Jan 1, 2005 · Old soldiers is a solid foray into the world of the Bolos and the Concordiat-Melconian War. Not as big on action as other BOLO books but there is enough action to suit action fans and enough of a deeper story to keep other sci fi fans happy. All in all, this is a very solid book and worth reading.
