The first film by Joaquim Pinto tells a story of initiation and struggle with adulthood: on vacation at an aunt’s inn by the sea is Luisa, Miguel the fisherman and Dr. John Fernando; three characters who mark the entrance to the first “stone in my pocket”.
Uma Pedra no Bolso (1988) Miguel is twelve years old and isn't doing well at school. As a punishment, he is sent for a few days to stay with his aunt, who runs a boarding house near the sea. Miguel doesn't like this place because nothing ever happens there.
Overview. 12-year-old Miguel is punished because he has not done his homework properly: he must stay at his aunt's inn for holidays. First bored, then a friendship begins between him and other inn's regular holiday-makers, like maid Luisa or fisherman João.
