The movie starts with Tim calling 911 to report his own suicide. Two years ago, Tim Thomas (Will Smith), sending a text message while driving, caused a car crash in which seven people died: six strangers (Ken Anderson, Nicole Anderson, Ally Anderson, Ed Wright, Steven Philips, Monica Freeman) and his fiance, Sarah Jenson (Robinne Lee).
