Nov 20, 2007 · "I'm Not There" is an attempt to consider the contradictions of Bob Dylan by building itself upon contradictions. Maybe that's the only way to do it. If you made a biopic with Dylan played by the same actor all the way through, it might become the portrait of a shape-shifting schizophrenic.
Inspired by the life and songs of Bob Dylan, I'm Not There attempts to capture the essence of the elusive musical genius. Six different actors, including Ledger, Bale, Gere and Blanchett, each embody part of the Dylan legend: from Greenwich Village folk singer to electric guitar trailblazer to born-again preacher.
