At a party, Bob and Alysia, under the influence of alcohol, decide to elope and go to Bowling Green, Connecticut, where Silas Meacham has begun a campaign against motion pictures. While waiting for the justice of the peace, Bob and Alysia see Polly Meacham staging "The Way to a Man's Heart."

Polly of the Follies. Summaries. Country girl goes to New York and becomes stage star. Mrs. Jones of Long Island, in her struggle for social recognition, is anxious for her son Bob to marry Alysia Potter.
The eloping couple’s family arrive, chasing them, and persuade them to wait to get married. Polly goes to New York to join the Ziegfeld Follies, but is ultimately replaced by Alysia. As Bob consoles Polly, Alysia breaks off the engagement, and Bob and Polly may now marry.
