May 7, 1999 · "Lovers of the Arctic Circle" tells the story of Ana and Otto, whose names are palindromes, and whose lives seemed governed by circular patterns. Events at the beginning are related to events at the end. The movie is about love--or, rather, about their grand ideas of romance.
Ana and Otto are brought together as children when Ana's mother Olga and Otto's father Alvaro meet and fall in love. The two form a strong friendship, and Otto moves in with his father's new family, even though he's promised his divorced mother that he'll never abandon her.
