The dogs are taken to a shelter and presumed lost forever. Then a very rich woman, Katherine Mannion (Rue McClanahan) finds the puppies have cured her terminal illness. Being a major donor to the hospital, she forces them to rehire Charlie's parents, the dogs are rescued and C.W. gets a puppy to keep him company in the basement.
