    Lorenzen:There have been textile departments in art schools since the 1930s and Bauhaus artist were working with textiles. But in the 1960s it became much more popular around Europe—right around when second wave feminism became more popular. I think those things are linked. Women saw that the things women make can be art, too.

    Millard:I'm taking lessons with Tinna right now. But I'm glad I entered the subject as an outsider, because it helped me see the elements in the story that would appeal to a wider audience. Lorenzen: I did in school, but I haven't done it since. So many of my friends do, and I would love to do it. I don't know what is wrong with me.
