  2. Professor Karpe’s group researches human adipose (fat) tissue function and the effect of obesity on metabolism. The group is interested in the links between diabetes and cardiovascular disease and upper and lower body obesity.

  3. Fredrik Karpe is head of the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is a physician-scientist who received initial academic and clinical training at the Karolinska in Sweden. He moved to Oxford in 1999 and became associated with Pembroke in 2004.

  4. I head the Metabolic Research Group together with Associate Professor Leanne Hodson. My research is focussed on human adipose tissue function and the metabolic consequences of obesity. With increasing rates of obesity and type 2 diabetes, this is an area of unmet clinical need.
