Kenji Sawada was born on 25 June 1948 in Tottori, Japan. He is a music artist and actor, known for The Man Who Stole the Sun (1979), Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) and The Zen Diary (2022). He has been married to Yûko Tanaka since 1989. He was previously married to Emi Itô.

After fronting Group Sounds band The Tigers in the '60s and supergroup PYG in 1971, Sawada become a major solo artist in the late ‘70s with extravagant rock hits made all the more memorable by his androgynous flair.
