Takhat was an ancient Egyptian princess and queen of the 19th Dynasty, the mother of the usurper pharaoh Amenmesse. There are not many facts known about her other than that she was Amenmesse's mother. She bore the titles King's Daughter and King's Wife.

There are five takhts (Punjabi: ਪੰਜ ਤਖਤ, romanized: Pañj takhat, lit. 'five thrones'), which are five gurudwaras that have a very special significance for the Sikh community. Three are located in Punjab whilst the remaining two are located outside of it.
- Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The most elevated mainstream seat of Sikhism was set up by the 6th Sikh expert Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji in 1609, helped by Baba Budha Ji and Bhai Gurdas.
- Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib. Gurdwara Shri Keshgarh Sahib is also known as "Takht Shri Keshgarh Sahib '' and is one of India's five highest Sikh institutions; it is the most important Sikh shrine in the city.
- Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib. In Damdama Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh produced the revised and authentic version of the Adi Granth, which the Sikhs now revere as Guru Granth Sahib, their eternal Guru or spiritual guide or teacher.
- Takhat Sri Patna Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh Ji (December 22, 1666 - October 7, 1708) was the tenth Guru of Sikhism. In Sikh society, Guru Gobind Singh is considered the perfect example of manhood: highly educated, skilled in horsemanship and armed combat, polite and generous.
The word Takhat (Gurmukhi: ਤਖਤ) literally means 'throne', 'royal seat' or ‘seat of power’ or ‘throne of authority’. It is common to refer to the central presence of the Guru in the main prayer hall in a Sikh temple as the " Guru's Takhat ".
