Victor Emmanuel III (11 November 1869 – 28 December 1947), born Vittorio Emanuele Ferdinando Maria Gennaro di Savoia, was King of Italy from 29 July 1900 until his abdication on 9 May 1946.
Victor Emmanuel III was the king of Italy whose reign brought the end of the Italian monarchy. After a mainly military education, he came suddenly to the throne in 1900 on the assassination of his father, King Umberto I.
