Marling School’s governing body, and the leadership team, share a challenging vision for the school of raising aspirations, inspiring excellence and succeeding together. Marling School is the oldest secondary school in Stroud, having been founded in 1887 by Sir Samuel Marling, a local cloth manufacturer and former Liberal Member of Parliament, along with Sir Francis Hyett and Mr S.S. Dickinson.
Marling School is a non-fee paying, selective Grammar School for boys aged 11-16 years with a co-educational Sixth Form. To gain entry to Year 7, all pupils must sit and gain a qualifying rank in the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools' Entrance Test.
Marling Sixth Form offers over 30 A Level subjects, breadth options, enrichment and pastoral care for students from diverse schools and backgrounds. Learn about the curriculum, achievements, student handbook and how to apply for 2023/24.
Marling School is a selective school with a coeducational sixth form, offering a range of academic and extra-curricular activities. It has a historic and modern campus in the Cotswold town of Stroud, and is rated outstanding by Ofsted.
