From 10 - 14 March, a group of intrepid students from Western Heights High School embarked on a remarkable journey to Great Barrier Island. Flying 30 minutes off the New Zealand mainland in two teeny tiny 'Great Barrier Air' planes, they carried their 12+ kg packs and all supplies for a challenging three day hike spanning over 30 km.
This year Western Heights High School has students learning with different providers across the Bay of Plenty, from Toi Ohomai, Hair to Train and ETCO here in Rotorua; to YooBee Colleges, and EmployNZ in Tauranga.

Western Heights High School is a State, Co-Educational Secondary School located in Rotorua, New Zealand. Co-Educational means that both boys and girls attend our school. Our student body is made of Year 9 to 13 students (12 to 18 years old). We have approximately 1200 students in total.
Please note, Western Heights High School has a process where if a student is feeling unwell at school they must go to the Student Support Centre to see the nurse. Students are not to text/call parents from their phone to arrange to be collected from school during the school day.
The Te Maru end of year school outing is on Tuesday 28 November. The students and staff will enjoy a trip out on the Duck Boat, followed by a picnic lunch. Students will bring their own lunches that day.
