Martin David Davis (March 8, 1928 – January 1, 2023) was an American mathematician and computer scientist who contributed to the fields of computability theory and mathematical logic. His work on Hilbert's tenth problem led to the MRDP theorem.

Jul 18, 1991 · Martin Davis was born in 1928 in New York City to parents who had known each other in Poland, but did not marry until they had met again in the US. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1950, where his adviser was Alonzo Church. He is known for his work on Hilbert's Tenth Problem and for his model of Post-Turing machines.
