Simon Walter Blackburn FBA (born 12 July 1944) is an English academic philosopher known for his work in metaethics, where he defends quasi-realism, and in the philosophy of language. More recently, he has gained a large general audience from his efforts to popularise philosophy.
Simon Blackburn is a renowned philosopher who has taught at Oxford, North Carolina and Cambridge. He has written books on metaphysics, ethics, philosophy of mind and language, and edited the journal Mind.

He is perhaps best known among his peers for his development of a ‘quasi-realistic’ method for seeking to understand the nature of ethical attitudes.
