Jake David Shapiro (born March 18, 1969) is an American filmmaker and stand-up comedian. Shapiro is best known as the original screenwriter of the film Robin Hood: Men in Tights [1] and for writing the screenplay adaptation of L. Ron Hubbard 's novel Battlefield Earth.
As a child growing up poor with three sisters in a small, run-down house, JD's imagination became his sanctuary. Taking apart pens to see how they work, and undressing his sister's Barbie Dolls to see what was underneath, leading to a passion for storytelling and women.
