Amsterdam Vice (Dutch: Baantjer: Het Begin – English: Baantjer: The Beginning) is a 2019 Dutch film and accompanying series directed by Arne Toonen. The film and eponymous television series is based on the novels of A. C. Baantjer and a prequel to the television series Baantjer, based on the same novels.

Baantjer: het begin is een Nederlandse film en aansluitende televisieserie uit 2019 van Arne Toonen, gebaseerd op de werken van Appie Baantjer. De film werd op 30 december 2019 uitgezonden op RTL 4. Er keken die avond 689.000 mensen. Door kijkers werd er geklaagd over onverstaanbare dialogen.
Achtergrond. In 1997 won de serie de Gouden Televizier-Ring voor het beste programma op de Nederlandse televisie van dat jaar. Op 7 november 2003 verscheen de honderdste aflevering, De Cock en de moord op de clown. Qua volgorde was dat de 99e, maar de crew telde de televisiefilm uit 1999 mee.
Overview. It is the time of major social changes, squatter riots and demonstrations. The idealistic young detective Jurre de Cock is just starting at station Warmoesstraat. His partner, the purebred Amsterdammer Tonnie Montijn, shows him around the city. But then the duo comes across a criminal conspiracy, which appears to be part of a bigger plan.
