In 19th century France, a girl named Perrine travels with her family to search for her grandfather. Perrine has to overcome many hardships, losing her father in Bosnia and then her mother to illness. The girl finally finds her blind and lonely grandfather living in a castle-like mansion, but she is unable to make him realize who she is.
