Jul 11, 2022 · Bombay was the name given by Britishers which later changed by Indian Government to Mumbai (it was called so after an Indian deity Mumba Devi, I guess). Still many institutions are named after Bombay eg. Bombay High Court, some schools & organization etc. Idk about "politically correct" but the legal name is Mumbai.

Mar 13, 2022 · The Bombay breed is a pedigree breed, meaning you have to combine two specific breeds of cats in order to produce one. The reason everyone gets so confused as to the breed of their black cat is likely due to the fact that Bombays are half black American Shorthair.
I realize most English speakers will say Bombay while speakers in other languages would say Mumbai (and sometimes Bambai). There's no right or wrong. Language and words are just to communicate. As long as you get the idea -- unless you're a right wing fascist. Lol.

Apr 25, 2013 · Most will still call you by your childhood name. Bombay is the birth name to most of us and it sounds way more awesome too. Mumbai / Kolkata / Chennai all suck. I find it absolutely insecure and petulant behaviour to get names changed to suit your cultural pride.
Bombay vs Mumbai? Having spent about a year in the city, I've had the opportunity to work and interact with people who've been born and brought up there.

Wanted to know what's the opinion of the general people in Bombay on those studying in IITB. Do you think we are just normal people, or showoffs or stuff. Would appreciate opinions from other college students as well ...
I dont get offended as I am used to it now because most of the people who says this have migrated to state or grew up listening 'Bombay' or Bambai from their parents. So its kind of understandable why they do so. But whenever someone call 'Mumbai Indians' as 'Bombay Indians' or refer them as 'Bombay' I beat him with my nokia 1100. Reply reply.
