Introducing ABRSM exams. We design our exams to inspire and challenge developing musicians and to recognise and celebrate their progress. We provide a range of assessments for musicians of all ages and at all levels, from the Prep Test and Initial Grade for beginners to advanced-level diplomas in Performance, Teaching and Directing.
These exam dates are for Practical Grades and Music Performance ARSM diplomas, Prep Tests, Performance Assessments and Practical Musicianship exams. For Ensemble and Choral Singing exams, see "Group Exams". The dates on this page are for Public Venue exams.
Use our online service to book these exams – click Login/Register at the top of the page to get started. Digital exams are available on demand – there are no booking periods or set exam dates, so you can book and take exams at a time that suits you. We assess Music Theory at Grades 1 to 5 through an online exam. Exams are available on-demand. There are no booking periods or set dates so you can choose when to book and when and where to take your exam. From the date of booking you have 28 days to log in to your ABRSM account and take your exam.
The Prep Test is a fun first assessment with no pass or fail and Music Medals (UK only) are teacher-led assessments for the early stages of learning. For advanced pianists we offer ARSM, LRSM and FRSM diplomas in Music Performance.
