Biography. Hu obtained his BEng degree from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University in Beijing in 1985. He went on to receive his MSc and PhD degrees from the Materials Science Centre, University of Manchester in the United Kingdom in 1998 and 1990 respectively.
