Jun 1, 2021 · Despite being a blockbuster action movie which sends up big blockbuster action movies, Last Action Hero is a frequently quite visually lacklustre affair, with a few surprisingly low key settings and pastel tones, and only a few instances of striking pop - notably when they send up Hamlet, although the spot colour effects in that particular monochrome sequence don't comfortably translate to 4K HDR.

Jan 13, 2022 · It's not like everything went wrong after that - Last Action Hero is a flawed effort way before its time, True Lies a fabulously fun large scale James Cameron spy comedy, and End of Days a fair but also flawed attempt at something a little darker and more horror infused (no excuses for Batman & Robin and Jingle All the Way).
Oct 13, 2015 · Badham had previously given us the excellent police helicopter thriller Blue Thunder – which had its own witty odd-couple camaraderie at its heart – and had struck gold with a similar action-comedy formula in the Gibson/Goldie Hawn vehicle Bird On a Wire, but The Hard Way, whilst successful, wasn’t quite the hit people expected from the star of Back to the Future.

Dec 13, 2006 · I also watched Last Action Hero last night which I got in 4k from Itunes. One of my fav childhood movies which I haven't seen in 20 odd years, and it still holds up, and the 4k transfer was brilliant as well. Was really surprised a movie from 1993 looked so good!
