Newnham College is the lively and sociable women’s college at the heart of the University of Cambridge. Founded in 1871, we are the oldest college run by women, for women. At its heart, a Cambridge college is a community of learning, teaching and research.
We remain proudly a women’s College today. The College has a mixture of beautiful historic and contemporary buildings, set in stunning gardens. We are located by the University’s Sidgwick site and University Library, and about 10 minutes walk from the historic centre of Cambridge.

At Newnham, we know that for our students to reach their full academic potential, we need to ensure their wellbeing as much as their educational needs. We aim to create a strong support network, and each student has a Director of Studies (DoS) for academic matters, and a personal Tutor for non-academic matters.
But you can if you wish keep a broad range of interests by selecting modules across the whole range of engineering areas. Besides all the Engineering courses, a range of topics in management, business studies, economics and language are offered.
