Admission Requirements. The Coast Guard Academy is ranked among the nation’s elite undergraduate colleges. This is reflected in our highly selective admission process, which annually admits about 300 cadets from thousands of applicants.
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers nine academic majors. All cadets pursue a liberal arts-based core curriculum, providing a broad academic foundation to complement the specialized learning within each major.

Getting Started. Unlike applications to other U.S. service academies, admission to the Coast Guard Academy is driven strictly by merit. Congressional nominations are not required or considered, so we are free to choose the absolute best applicants for our service.
Coast Guard Academy Registrar. The Registrar’s Office is responsible for the development of the semester class schedules, the enrollment of cadets in classes and the generation of all academic reports which relate to cadet academic records.
The Academy’s four-year academic program is widely recognized as one of the nation’s best. Our program stands apart with a strong background in science and technology, a solid grounding in the liberal arts, and in-depth major study. Our cadets are beyond prepared for a lifetime of success.
