  5. Welcome to the website of the Weir Common Room (WCR) of the University College, Oxford. The WCR represents the postgraduate community of the University College, Oxford.

  6. The College aims to accommodate Undergraduate students for all three or four years of their course in College-owned or College-managed accommodation. In their first-year students are housed on the main College site.

  7. Courses at Univ. University College admits students for most, but not all, of the courses offered by the University of Oxford. We are strongly committed to the tutorial system, and believe that we should build on existing strengths.

  8. The history of Univ is a fascinating one. University College owes its origins to William of Durham, who died in 1249; however a legend grew up in the 1380s that we were actually founded even earlier, by King Alfred in 872, and, understandably enough, this became widely accepted as the truth.
