Oct 13, 2019 · "The Mummy" is a movie like that. There is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it. I cannot argue for the script, the direction, the acting or even the mummy, but I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased.

Aug 17, 2021 · James Rollins books are pretty fantastic for that thriller action adventure vibe. His Sigma series is one of.my favorite series and I love his stand alone novels as well (Ice Hunt is an absolute top ten for me, with Subterranean coming in just behind). As a fan of the Mummy (1999) as well, I recommend :)
Mar 26, 2021 · This sub mainly focuses on the Brendan Fraser series, but any movie that has "The Mummy" in its title is acceptable. Yes, this includes the less impressive Tom Cruise reboot, The Mummy (2017). Posts can also include the Scorpion King movies.
Nov 27, 2020 · The Mummy from 1999 is a favorite of mine due to the fun adventure, comedy, romance and great cast, but I've seen it a million years. Stardust is another one that's quite enjoyable. I'm definitely a fan of sci-fi/fantasy but I'm open to any fun adventure movies with good banter and high-stakes danger.
Jul 24, 2021 · Looking for a fun adventure/horror with a similar plot and vibe to the undisputable masterpiece that is the 1999 film The Mummy. Ideally a period setting, early 20th century perhaps. Characters with the raw sexual magnetism of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz preferred but not essential.
Mar 20, 2021 · Chase's book goes out of its way to insult the Egyptian characters in it in a way far beyond what the Mummy does, IIRC. (The Mummy is kind of an over-the-top comedy sendup of British Adventures In Exotic Egypt but I don't remember it being mean-spirited about it.) That's not saying not to read it, but it seems worth a mention.
Feb 20, 2023 · 1999: This film shifted the focal genre from horror to action. It still had its fair share of dark moments (scarabs under the skin, a zombie-like villain) but managed to blend just about every genre and tone (action, adventure, horror, mystery, comedy, romance).
Jun 14, 2017 · The Mummy (1999) This latest abominable remake got my nostalgia-senses tingling, so I decided to re-watch one of my childhood favorites, the 1999 version of The Mummy. It's one I owned on VHS as a youngling (born in '91) and watched damn near every day.
