Hathaway's performance is good but the movie leaves a "deja vu" feeling from other stories fall and redemptioni stories. A romantic comedy centered on Dexter and Emma, who first meet during their graduation in 1988 and proceed to keep in touch regularly.
The movie plays out over the years, all featuring one day, July 15th. The story opens briefly on July 15th, 2006, with Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway) swimming and then cycling. Then the numbers flip back to July 15th, 1988: Emma and Dexter (Jim Sturgess) are celebrating their college graduation with friends, still wearing their caps and gowns.
