Nov 24, 2019 · There are a lot of "modified" versions of Utorrent 2.2.1 with malware attached to them. Utorrent no longer distributes version 2.2.1 - so anybody downloading that version is getting a copy from some unreliable, unauthorized source who is most likely baiting you with downloading their "special edition" which has malware attached to it.

Mar 2, 2014 · I just uninstalled uTorrent and may try the free version again. Meanwhile I have Vuze Plus and it isn't doing anything either; may do the same thing with that. Tixati is running but again, extremely slow. This machine is running Windows 8.0 with 16GB of RAM and I didn't have problems before with either uTorrent or Vuze.
Dec 4, 2013 · Quite frequently I get stuck on 'Downloading Metadata' for certain torrents, whilst at the same time others download just fine. If I go to ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent and delete dht.dat and dht.dat.old files then those stuck at 'Downloading metadata' start downloading but then a few days later I will run into the same problem.

I can confirm that the potentially unwanted program (PUP), OpenCandy, is detected by some antimalware applications during the install of uTorrent; that it is not an optional component; and that detection occurs before anything is accepted or clicked during the installation process.
