9gag is on a ever steeper hill downwards in terms of quality of content and userbase. Gone are the days of funny memes and funny comments. Propaganda, hateful language and ads are majority of posts by now. In the the last years I found it only bearable by filtering out about three out of four posts from my feed.
Why has 9gag become so racist ? I’ve been there for 10+ years. Lately, I found the app to be more and more extremely toxic and racist regarding arabs, muslims, immigrates, and a lot of other communities. People in comments often allow themeselves to post whatever they want, often upvoted by a whole lot of other users.

Dec 15, 2019 · Back in the time (around a year ago), when i was still using 9gag, my favorite section was "dark humor". I was (and kinda still am) your typical edgy teenager, so it was like made for me, but over the time i started to notice the decline of the section. Dont get me wrong, "Dark humor" was shit from the beginning, everything was reposted, and the jokes werent really good, but got worse everyday.
Jan 3, 2019 · 9Gag is closely controled by the administrators. They steal posts from all around the internet, mostly from reddit, and delete comments/posts at will. Trying to warn 9gaggers about this is useless, they will never even see your comments.
Jul 14, 2021 · 9gag has changed so much over 10 years, I am thinking of leaving it. I over 3400+ days on my 9gag account and lately it just came to realisation that contents has changed a lot.

Jun 29, 2022 · In conclusion, 9GAG used to be about freedom and memes. Now we are heavily censored, highly monetized, and forced to watch content no real 9gagger has ever uploaded. This safe heaven we used to have is dying in the name of money (as many other things) and it's a matter of time a new app, web or site emerges for the necessities we have.
