Kirkintilloch (/ ˌkɜːrkɪnˈtɪləx /; Scots: Kirkintulloch; Scottish Gaelic: Cair Cheann Tulaich) [5][6] is a town and former barony burgh in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. [7] It lies on the Forth and Clyde Canal and on the south side of Strathkelvin, about 8 miles (13 km) northeast of central Glasgow.
Kirkintilloch is an industrial town in the Clydeside area of central Scotland, with a population in 2022 of 20,000. It's about 8 miles northeast of central Glasgow, on the Forth and Clyde Canal. The main reason to visit is to see the Antonine Wall east of the town.
This is an easy circular three mile walk from Kirkintilloch following the Forth & Clyde Canal, returning via the derelict Broomhill Hospital. The walk starts from the car park at Lidl's or McDonald's in the town off Milton Street and crosses Glasgow Road at the traffic lights.
There can hardly be one still living in the parish of Kirkintilloch who remembers Broomhill House being built in the early part of the century by John Lang, Esq., the circumstance being only now commemorated by the verses of William Muir, written shortly after, some of which are appended.

Broomhill Farm Mews is a small and sought after purpose built development with only a handful of homes including some popular terrace houses and 3 large Detached Villas all of which are in a quiet cul-de-sac setting.
May 20, 2007 · Broomhill & Lanfine Hospitals, Kirkintilloch. A beautiful building - but the future it faces seems to be demolition, having been a target for vandals over the years. The original building on the site was purchased in 1876 and opened for business.
