Considered pioneers of desert blues, the group's guitar-driven style combines traditional Tuareg and African music with Western rock music. They have released nine albums since their formation and have toured internationally.
Born out of traditional chant music, the guitar-led desert blues is said to be an antecedent of the American blues. Originated by the Tuareg and other Saharan peoples, the sound was popularized by Mallian musician Ali Farka Touré, melding it with its American counterpart and earning two GRAMMY®s in the process.
