As "un-" just means "not", my first thought on reading the subject "unordinary & extraordinary" was that they might actually be "opposites" - not ordinary in a neutral or negative way (less than ordinary) and not ordinary in a positive way (more than ordinary). (This is not a good example but the first one coming to mind.)
