Aug 6, 2021 · A giddy chase scene almost singlehandedly rescues “Escape from Mogadishu,” an otherwise unmoving South Korean political thriller about the real-life Korean diplomats who fled Somalia during that country’s 1991 civil war.
But when protests against the Mogadishu government turn violent, a brutal civil war breaks out, with street fighting and armed militia soldiers running amok. The maelstrom threatens to engulf both groups of diplomats, cutting them off from communication channels in Seoul and Pyongyang.
