On 3rd April 1962, Luang Phor and another Thai monk founded Palelai Buddhist Temple. The Temple was originally housed at Poh Huat Road. Over the course of time, Palelai moved to a larger premises in order to accommodate the growing numbers of members and devotees.
The monastery is a sanctuary for celibate monks and the practice of modesty and restraint of the senses. Visitors are kindly requested not to come in shorts (bermudas are acceptable), short skirts with lengths above the knees, low cut blouses, or other revealing clothings, as a form of respect to the monastery and its community.

May 13, 2023 · 60th Anniversary Ceremony. Date: Saturday, 13 May 2023. The highlight of the year’s activities, the main ceremony commemorating the temple’s 60th Anniversary will be held throughout on Saturday, 13th May from 8.30am onwards.
For over 60 years, our volunteers and lay devotees at Palelai have been playing an important role in the development of the temple. While we have a small team of full-time employees and contractors hired for professional services, Palelai is mainly run by unpaid volunteers.
