Jan 14, 2018 · Seems that whenever Lavin refused to do a funny line or a stunt, actress Polly Holliday, who played brassy Flo, would often volunteer for the bit, causing competitive Lavin to re-think her decision. Ironically, after Holliday left the series for her own spin-off "Flo" in 1980, she was replaced by Diane Ladd, the original Flo from the 1974 film, who played another waitress named Belle.

Nov 2, 2021 · Polly Holliday is Not Dead to Me... But she surprisingly has such a paltry resume. I always think of her as one of those actors who was in practically everything in the '70s and '80s, but she was in just a handful of films, TV movies, and Broadway shows.

After the show's success, a brand new one-- made out of real human hair-- was designed, and she wore that one for the duration of the series.
