Study in the School of American Ballet’s summer programs is for dedicated ballet students between the ages of 10 and 18 years old. Admission to our summer programs is by audition only.
In two 1-hour ballet technique classes per week, students experience the fundamental components of a ballet class—barre and center work—and learn characteristics essential to success in ballet, including respect for teachers and classmates, self control, persistence and patience.

After retiring from dancing in 2014, Mr. Stafford served as Ballet Master for New York City Ballet. In 2017, he led New York City Ballet’s four-person interim artistic leadership team and was named Artistic Director of both New York City Ballet and the School of American Ballet in February 2019.
Summer Video Application. All students who are unable to attend an in-person audition during our summer recruiting season are invited to apply by video for our summer programs.
