The area is located adjacent to the Great Western Highway, Mid-Western Highway, Mitchell Highway and the Main Western railway line. At the 2021 census, the Bathurst Region had a population of 43,567.

The Bathurst Visitor Information Centre is a one-stop shop for information about everything happening across the Bathurst region. Besides offering brochures, maps and friendly advice, it’s also home to a restored 1860s Cobb & Co coach that was used on the Bathurst-Sofala mail and passenger run.
