Winchester College is an English public school (a long-established fee-charging boarding school for pupils aged 13–18) with some provision for day attendees, in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It was founded by William of Wykeham in 1382 as a feeder school for New College, Oxford, and has existed in its present location ever since.
We welcome pupils to our Sixth Form to study alongside other ambitious girls and boys and to make the most of everything Winchester has to offer. Pupils benefit from expert teaching and small class sizes across our A Level curriculum, and enjoy sports, music, arts and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, in a beautiful environment.

Apr 27, 2024 · Winchester College, one of the oldest of the great public schools of England, in Winchester, Hampshire. Its formal name, St. Mary College of Winchester near Winchester, dates from 1382, when it was founded by Bishop William of Wykeham ( q.v.) to prepare boys for his New College, Oxford, known as St. Mary College of Winchester in Oxford.
