Jubilee and a group of children are trapped in a cave. While they escape she tells them a fairytale.
Underneath Xavier's Mansion, Jubilee leads a group of children on a trip through the cave system while Professor X, Wolverine and Gambit travel to Washington to speak with the President. Seismic activity causes a cave-in which traps Jubilee and the children in the caves. Jubilee uses a device to send a S.O.S signal to the X-Men and decides to tell a story to the children while they wait.
Jubilee tells the story of a Handsome Prince and his love, Princess Jean, who are constantly troubled by Magnus the Magnificent, an evil sorcerer who commands an army of metal men. When the metal men are patrolling through the forest, they come across Gambit, who is the leader of the rebellion against Magnus. Gambit is attacked by the metal men but is saved by Jubilee, who is a legendary figure in the kingdom. Jubilee and her troll, Logan, fight the metal men, driving them away and saving Gambit.
Grateful for their help, Gambit offers to show Jubilee and Logan where the 'MacTaggert Crystal' is, an object that Magnus has been seeking. Magnus had hired Gambit to steal the crystal for him but the thieve decided to keep it for himself and give Magnus a fake. The trio enter the cave where the crystal is hidden but are met by Sabretooth and some metal men. A fight ensues but Sabretooth and the metal men are defeated.
Xavier the All-Knowing appears to Jubilee as a giant, spectral head, and informs her that she has a great destiny ahead of her and her good will is the key to unlocking the power of the MacTaggert Crystal. Gambit then leads Jubilee and Logan through a secret passageway to Magnus's dungeons but they are again attacked by metal men. Magnus threatens to kill Logan if Jubilee doesn't use her powers to make the crystal enhance Magnus's. Jubilee gives and shoots the crystal with her energy blasts, making Magnus stronger. However, Jubilee overloads Magnus's powers, making every metal object magnetized to him.
Inspired by the comic book Uncanny X-Men #153 titled Kitty's Fairy Tale. In it, Kitty Pryde told a fairy tale to Illyana Rasputin about the pirates Captain Kitty and Colossus.
