Coccinellidae ( / ˌkɒksɪˈnɛlɪdiː /) [3] is a widespread family of small beetles. They are commonly known as ladybugs in North America and ladybirds in the United Kingdom; "lady" refers to mother Mary. Entomologists use the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles to avoid confusion with true bugs.
Plot. In fall 2002, Christine McPherson, who calls herself "Lady Bird", is a senior at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic High School [a] in Sacramento, California. Despite her family's financial struggles, she longs to attend a prestigious college in "a city with culture" somewhere on the East Coast.
