The Mass Rapid Transit system, locally known by the initialism MRT, is a rapid transit system in Singapore and the island country's principal mode of railway transportation. The system commenced operations in November 1987 after two decades of planning with an initial 6 km (3.7 mi) stretch consisting of five stations.
Mar 23, 2022 · The Multimodal Transportation Act (No.2 of 2021) (MTA) came into force on 28 November 2021 and is the first legislation in Singapore with regards to multimodal transportation. The MTA gives effect to the 2005 ASEAN Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport (AFAMT) which Singapore ratified on 29 October 2021.
