Opelika (pronounced / ˌ oʊ p ə ˈ l aɪ k ə / OH-pə-LY-kə) is a city in and the county seat of Lee County in the east-central part of the U.S. state of Alabama. It is a principal city of the Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan Area .

Opelika, city, seat (1866) of Lee county, eastern Alabama, U.S. It is situated about 15 miles (24 km) west of the Chattahoochee River, adjacent to Auburn. The first settlers entered the area following the signing of a final treaty with the Creek in 1832.
