Beausoleil with Canray Fontenot - Le Bal A Chataignier (The Dance at Chataignier) Beausoleil is the project of fiddle, banjo and guitar player Michael Doucet. Inspired by 78s of the old Cajun masters and French folk music, Beausoleil is deeply steeped in tradition while incorporating modern influences of jazz, rock, and blues.
Founded in 1975, BeauSoleil (often billed as "BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet") released its first album in 1977 and became one of the most well-known bands performing traditional and original music rooted in the folk tunes of the Cajuns and Creoles of Louisiana.
