The 7th arrondissement of Paris (VII e arrondissement) is one of the 20 arrondissements of the capital city of France. In spoken French, this arrondissement is referred to as le septième.
Located on the Rive Gauche, or Left Bank, the 7th arrondissement is set in the heart of Paris, offering the perfect mix of the city’s grandest sites combined with the village-like atmosphere of this quintessentially Parisian neighborhood.
- Climb the Eiffel Tower. Okay, this might seem somewhat clichéd, but if you don’t do it at least once, you will regret it. Not only is it high on so many people’s Paris bucket lists, but the views from the tower are also simply extraordinary and they offer the perfect opportunity to gain a bird’s eye perspective of this fabulous city.
- Take a stroll through the Champ de Mars. This 24.5-hectare (59 acres) garden incorporates the Eiffel Tower and stretches up to École Militaire. Once a vegetable garden and vineyard, the gardens later became a training ground for the French army and the country’s most famous military school continues to occupy one of its flanks.
- Explore France’s military history at Hotel National des Invalides. Don’t let the name confuse you. This isn’t actually a hotel at all! Built from 1671 to 1676, this impressive building once served as a hospital for military veterans.
- Go arty with a visit to the Musée d’Orsay. Paris doesn’t lack world-caliber museums but this one is right up there with the best of them. It is housed in a former railway station on the banks of the Seine and is famous for its glass-fronted clock and for having the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings in the world.
The 7 th arrondissement of Paris is delimited by the Seine in the North, rue des Saints Pères and rue de Sèvres in the East and avenue de Suffren in the West. Paris 7 is not very big but there’s a lot to walk to see its main sights!
- The Eiffel Tower. Skip the long lines at the Eiffel Tower. It is by far the most recognized and loved symbol of Paris. The enduring Eiffel Tower was built to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution and to be the centerpiece of the 1889 International Expo.
- Musée d'Orsay. The main gallery at Musée d'Orsay. Musée d'Orsay vies with the Louvre for the title of top museum in Paris, and it's our personal favorite.
- Le Cinq Codet. Art Deco styling at Le Cinq Codet. Our first hotel of choice in the 7th Arrondissement is this luxury hotel with a modern twist. The most-definitely Art Deco building started life as a France Telecom building but, in 2014, was completed restored and renovated into a chic hotel.
