Nan'gang District (Chinese: 南岗区; pinyin: Nán-gǎng Qū; Harbin dialect pronunciation: Nángàng Qū) is one of nine districts of the prefecture-level city of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, forming part of the city's urban core.
From 1932 until 1945, Harbin was the largest city in the Imperial Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo . Known for its bitterly cold winters, Harbin is heralded as the Ice City ( 冰 城) for its winter tourism and recreations. [11] Harbin is notable for its ice sculpture festival in the winter. [12]
Jile Temple. On a site of 5.7 hectares (14 acres), the Jile Temple is located at the end of Dongdazhi Street in Nangang District in Harbin. It is one of four famous Buddhist temples in the three provinces in northeastern China, the other three being Banruo Temple in Changchun, Cien Temple in Shenyang and Lengyan Temple in Yingkou.
